Samsung claim that the CLX-2160 is the world’s smallest colour laser MFP designed for those on a tight budget. Samsung CLX-2160 toner cartridges only print 1,000 pages each but don’t cost a huge amount which gives the CLX-2160 a cost per page of 1.8p for black and 8.7p for colour printing. This can be reduced by using remanufactured Samsung toner cartridges which cost on average 50% less than the genuine Samsung printer cartridges. The CLX-2160 is amazingly small when you consider is combines three rather bulky devices a printer, scanner and photo copier. When you start using the printer you notice that its operating noise is very quite any when printing and the paper feed is smooth. Print quality is not what you except from a laser printer but its still not bad for a budget printer. Black printing is great the text and graphics are sharp and the print speed in black are good too with 16ppm, Colour printing however leaves a bit to be desire in terms of quality and speed, 4ppm is all it manage and print quality has a slight fussiness to it. The Samsung CLX-2160 has definitely been designed to a budget and this is not just evident in it’s price tag, some of its features such as colour print quality will leave people who buy the printer feeling they should have spend just a little bit more on something with slightly better performance.
